Project Overview
Nack Studios designed the interiors for Oxford Play School in Gurgaon, creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment tailored for early childhood learning. The project focused on designing spaces that encourage curiosity, creativity, and exploration, while maintaining high standards of safety, functionality, and ease of supervision.
The school was envisioned as more than a learning facility. It was designed as a nurturing environment where young children feel secure, inspired, and eager to engage.
Design Philosophy
The design approach centred on understanding how children interact with space during their formative years. The objective was to create interiors that:
- Support cognitive and sensory development
- Encourage movement, play, and exploration
- Maintain visual clarity for supervision and safety
A balanced use of colour, textures, and forms was adopted to stimulate young minds without overwhelming them.
Spatial Planning & Learning Environment
Careful attention was given to layout planning, ensuring smooth movement, clear zoning, and age-appropriate spatial proportions. Each area was designed to support different modes of learning and interaction.
- Classrooms: Bright, engaging classrooms designed to foster creativity, focus, and collaborative learning.
- Activity Zones: Dedicated spaces for play, exploration, and hands-on learning, encouraging physical and mental development.
- Circulation Areas: Wide, well-lit corridors designed for safe movement and easy supervision.
The overall planning prioritised child safety, functionality, and comfort, making the school intuitive and easy to navigate for both children and staff.
Materials, Colours & Safety Considerations
Material selection was guided by durability, safety, and ease of maintenance. Soft edges, non-toxic finishes, and child-safe materials were integrated throughout the design. The colour palette was vibrant yet controlled, creating a cheerful environment that supports learning without visual clutter.
Collaboration & Execution Approach
The project was developed through close collaboration with the Oxford Play School team. Their educational philosophy and operational requirements guided the design decisions, resulting in a space that aligns with their vision while elevating the overall learning experience.
